DepEd Announces Guidelines for K to 12 End-of-School-Year Rites for SY 2024-2025

The Department of Education (DepEd) has released Memorandum No. 027, s. 2025, detailing the conduct of End-of-School-Year (EOSY) Rites for Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 10, Grade 12, and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners who have met the curriculum requirements for the school year 2024-2025.

Schedule of EOSY Rites

According to DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2024, the school year will conclude on April 15, 2025. Schools may schedule their EOSY rites on any of the dates from April 14-15, 2025.

Theme of the EOSY Rites

This year’s EOSY ceremonies will be guided by the theme: “Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa: Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas” (Generation of Unity: Partners for the New Philippines). The theme emphasizes unity and collective efforts toward a brighter future and highlights the crucial role of the younger generation in fostering progress in the country.

Key Guidelines for the EOSY Ceremonies

DepEd has reiterated the following provisions to ensure meaningful and inclusive EOSY rites:

  1. Simple Yet Meaningful Ceremonies – Graduation and moving-up ceremonies should be conducted modestly without excessive spending, extravagant attire, or extraordinary venues.

  2. No Mandatory Non-Academic Activities – Participation in field trips, film showings, and Junior-Senior Proms should not be imposed as a graduation requirement.

  3. No Collection of Fees – Public schools must charge expenses related to EOSY activities to their Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE). No DepEd personnel shall collect any contribution or fee for the ceremonies, as stated in DO 19, s. 2008.

  4. Standardized Certificates and Diplomas – The format of completion certificates and diplomas should align with the guidelines in DO 031, s. 2019.

  5. Prohibition on Political Activities – DepEd officials and personnel, whether teaching or non-teaching, are strictly prohibited from engaging in electioneering or partisan political activities, in compliance with DO 048, s. 2018, and DO 047, s. 2022.

  6. Recognition of Qualified Learners – All learners, including transferees, who have met the standards and criteria outlined in DO 36, s. 2016, will be recognized.

  7. Safety Measures for EOSY Rites – To ensure the welfare of learners, teachers, and attendees, ceremonies should be held in indoor venues or covered courts with proper ventilation. Schools should also schedule ceremonies at cooler times of the day to prevent heat-related issues.
