Increased Honoraria

Comelec has approved an increase in honoraria for members of the Electoral Board (EB) as follows:

  • Chairperson: PHP 12,000 (from PHP 10,000 in 2022)
  • Poll Clerk: PHP 11,000 (from PHP 9,000)
  • Third Member: PHP 10,000 (from PHP 9,000)
  • Support Staff: PHP 8,000 (from PHP 6,000)

This adjustment represents a PHP 2,000 increase across all positions compared to the 2022 elections, providing additional financial support for poll workers.

Increased Service Credits

To further acknowledge the dedication of educators, the number of service credits granted to teachers for election service has been doubled from 5 to 10 days. Other government employees participating in the elections will also receive an additional 5 days of service credits. These credits can be used for future leave, allowing poll workers time for rest and recovery post-election.

Additional Allowances

Comelec is also proposing a transportation allowance of PHP 1,000 for election day. This initiative aims to ease commuting expenses for teachers and other government personnel involved in the electoral process, ensuring that financial burdens do not hinder their service.

Streamlined Reimbursement Processes

To provide better support for educators, Comelec has committed to simplifying reimbursement procedures for legal and medical expenses incurred by teachers during election duties. This effort ensures that educators receive timely financial assistance for any unforeseen challenges faced in the line of duty.

Legislative Support

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III has voiced strong support for increasing the compensation of teachers and poll workers for the 2025 elections. He advocates for necessary budget adjustments to accommodate these enhancements, ensuring that poll workers receive substantial net compensation, even after tax deductions.

Commitment to Fair Elections

These comprehensive measures underscore the government’s dedication to valuing the indispensable contributions of teachers and government employees in upholding the integrity of the electoral process. By enhancing compensation, allowances, and service benefits, Comelec aims to ensure a well-supported and motivated workforce for the 2025 elections.
