Several towns and cities have canceled classes for Thursday, September 19, due to the southwest monsoon, or "habagat," and the trough, or extension, of Tropical Depression Nimfa.

PAGASA said heavy to intense rains are expected in Zambales and Bataan until Thursday due to the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Calabarzon and Mimaropa will likewise experience moderate to heavy rainfall within the same period.

Here are the list of class suspensions on Thursday: 

Central Luzon

  • Pampanga
    • Sto. Tomas (no face-to-face classes) 
    •  Mabalacat (no face-to-face classes) (Declaration)
    • San Fernando City – face-to-face classes in all levels (public and private)
  • Bulacan
    • San Rafael- all levels (public and private) (Declaration)
    • Balagtas - all levels (public and private) (Declaration)
    • Calumpit- all levels (public and private) (Declaration)
    • San Miguel- all levels (public and private) (Declaration)
    • Baliwag- all levels (public and private) (Declaration)
    • San Ildefonso- all levels (public and private) (Declaration)

Northwestern Luzon

  • Pangasinan
    • Rosales - preschool to senior high school (public and private) (Declaration)

Negros Island Region

  • Negros Occidental
    • Cauayan – face-to-face classes in all levels (public and private)
    • Murcia – face-to-face classes in all levels (public)

Western Visayas

  • Antique (no face-to-face classes) 
    • Culasi (no face-to-face classes) 
    • Pandan face-to-face classes in all levels (public and private)

    According to Department of Education guidelines, in-person classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 are automatically suspended when a tropical cyclone wind signal is raised in the area. Additionally, classes are also suspended if the state weather bureau, PAGASA, issues an orange or red rainfall warning.
