DepEd Cracks Down on Unauthorized Transactions in Schools

As of 1 March 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) has released official statement regarding school personnel engaging in the sale of booklets or workbooks to students for Catch-Up Fridays and other school-related activities. These actions have raised concerns as they go against the guidelines set by the Department, which clearly state that such practices are not allowed. DepEd emphasizes that Catch-Up Fridays and any other school events should not require students to incur additional expenses. Parents and learners are advised to refrain from participating in or supporting these unauthorized transactions.

In response to these reports, DepEd has launched an investigation into the matter to identify those responsible for breaching the rules. Any individual found to be involved in such illicit activities will be met with appropriate administrative penalties. The Department urges the public to remain vigilant and report any similar incidents directly to the Office of the Secretary at osec@deped.gov.ph. By working together to address these issues, we can uphold the integrity of our educational system and ensure a fair and equitable learning environment for all students.
