Objectives of National Achievement Test

The National Achievement Test (NAT) for Grade 6 aims to:

1. Monitor the Philippine education system and schools for public accountability;
2. Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of education services using learning outcomes as indicators;
3. Provide information that will guide decisions on instructional practices;
4. Determine if learners are meeting the learning standards of the curriculum
5. Measure students aptitude and occupational interest for career guidance; and
6. Assess prior learning for placement, accreditation and equivalency.

NAT Grade 6 Competencies Students Need To Develop

The National Achievement Test or NAT in short is a standardized test given to elementary and high school students in the Philippines. The test is aimed to assess students achievement in the different subject areas and their teachers effectiveness.

Teachers face the dilemma as to what reviewer they have to provide their students. But there's nothing to worry about if they only know the competencies to master. So, on this post, I would like to share the competencies in Filipino, Mathematics, English, Science, and Araling Panlipunan/HEKASI with all the teachers who want to get a higher MPS or Mean Percentage Score.

Filipino Competencies

• Nagagamit sa pangungusap ang panghalip, pang-uri, pangdiwa, pang-abay, pangatnig, at pang-akop.
• Nagagamit ang uri ng pangungusap ayon sa gamit.
• Natutukoy ang kahulugan ng salita (kasingkahulugan at kasalungat).
• Natutukoy ang pangunahing kaisipan at mahalagang detalye sa binasa.
• Nagagamit ang panipi at kuwit sa tuwirang sinabi ng tauhan.
• Nagagamit sa pangungusap ang pang-abay at pang-ugnay.
• Nagagamit ang uri ng panlapi sa pagbubuo ng pandiwa.

• Nailarawan ang katangian ng tauhan batay sa kilos at pananalita.
• Napagsunod-sunod ang mga pangyayari sa kwento.

• Nasusuri ang mga detalye na nagpapaliwanag ng buong diwa.

• Use degrees of comparison of irregular adjectives.

• Use prepositions or prepositional phrases.
• Identify the main idea/theme of selection.
• Determined the cause-effect based on a given selection.
• Draw conclusion based on the selection.
• Identify supporting details to justify a conclusion.
• Distinguish fact from opinion.

Science Competencies

• Explain how a body system works.
• Classify vertebrates in 5 sub-classes.
• Describe the characteristics of living things for survival.
• Describe the characteristics of different kinds of plants.

• Describe different characteristics of planets.

• Naipagmalaki ang katangiang pisikal ng Pilipinas.
• Napapahalagahan ang uri ng pamumuhay ng mga unang Pilipino.
• Nabibigyang halaga ang kalagayan ng pamumuhay ng Pilipino noong Ikatlong Republika.
• Naipagkakapuri ang mga mamamayang Pilipino.
• Napapahalagahan ang mga matatalinong paggamit at pangangalaga ng likas na yaman.
• Napapahalagahan ang bahaging ginagampanan ng pamahalaan at mamamayan sa kabutihan ng bansa.
• Napapahalagahan ang pananatili ng kalayaan ng bansa.
• Nakikilala ang palatandaan ng kaunlaran ng bansa.
